Lecture Series – The Works of 5 Classic Hungarian Photographers – at the Hungarian House of Photography at the Mai Manó House in Budapest starting in January 2012. Find other artistic endeavors and possibilities by mingling with those working in the field and/or attending school at this exciting photography lecture series focusing on 5 classic, Hungarian Photographers.
Colin Ford, the Founding Director of the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television (now National Media Museum) in the UK will now be giving the first lecture of the series on Hungarian photographers January the 30th at 6:00pm. The event will take place at the Daylight Studio at the Mai Manó House with the lecture entitled: Photography – Hungary’s Greatest Export?
The lecture will focus on the particular Hungarian aesthetic that is present in the works of five carefully selected Hungarian photographers. The series is in English and has been devised to engage the non-Hungarian crowd to explore the international nature of photo art.
All those interested in photography will be happy to learn that the Hungarian House of Photography at the Mai Manó House is featuring a lecture series to all English speakers on the various fields of photography with topics ranging from discussions on past and present Hungarian photographers, as well as international photography and its many facets of perspective and history.
Following a successful Photography Free University Series, the Hungarian House of Photography decided to bring this next cultural event to fruition. Join like-minded artists for a few nights of social and intellectual stimulation about the art of photography.
Colin Ford CBE was the first senior curator of photography in any British national museum or gallery between 1972 and 1982 at the National Portrait Gallery in London. He became the founding Head of the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television in Bradford, England in 1982. After ten years he moved on to become the Director of the ten National Museums & Galleries of Wales. He has written various books, over a dozen, on historic photographers such as Julia Margaret Cameron, ‘Lewis Carroll’, D. O. Hill & Robert Adamson and André Kertész – and has mounted many exhibitions of his own.
Tickets are 1,000HUF for adults and 500HUF for students and pensioners and are available for purchase on both weekdays and weekends at either the Hungarian House of Photography or at the Mai Manó Book Shop.
