Hunglish.org"A nagy Ő": A storybook-like concept of the ultimate man, a breathtaking combination of Prince Charming and King Árpád about as real as the Easter Bunny.

There is a Hungarian concept known as the Nagy Ő.
To women, this is like Prince Charming and King Árpád all rolled into one. He is supposed to ride in on a white horse (or maybe a white Mercedes 5 series) to save the girl, to take her off to his castle where they can live happily ever after in happy-ever-after-land.
The problem is that the concept doesn’t really translate to English that well.
„The Big One” can refer to many things from the giant infarction Redd Foxx was always having on „Sanford and Son” to the part of my body that does all the thinking.
So how to translate? The best I could come up with was „The Tooth Fairy,” „The Easter Bunny,” „Santa Claus” and „unicorns.”
I am reluctant to put „unicorns” on the list because, who knows? One might exist. Or might have existed. Or could exist in the future if some plastic surgeon starts experimenting with veterinary implants.
There are handsome rich guys, of course, and many of them do own castles, but few if any are Prince Charming, let alone King Árpád.
By the way, there is a male version of the Nagy Ő as well. It is perhaps a bit like watching „Baywatch” with the sound muted.
