Do you have a few extra dollars to spend, feel like having an exclusive night out, why not check into the New York Cafe or the Four Seasons in Budapest for a fancy dinner and cocktails?

So you’ve reached the end of your vacation and you’ve got a few bucks to blow. Why not treat yourself to a nice meal?
Budapest is a good place to splurge on food. A gourmet restaurant that would normally cost you an arm and a leg might cost you only an arm in Hungary.
A couple of examples of Budapest’s fine dining are the New York Café and Four Seasons.
The New York Café has recently been refurbished and reopened. This was supposedly a hangout for the Pest cultural elite around the turn of the century. Nowadays, it’s frequented mostly by tourists and not by artists and writer types wiling away their days writing masterpieces.
The Four Seasons has also been recently restored and looks out at the Szechenyi Bridge and castle. The interior is much more understated than that of the New York Café, but the food and service are first-rate.
Expect to pay somewhere between 9000 and 30,000 forints (roughly €30 to €100) and skywards at such fancy dinner places, depending on your appetite and tastes.
A cheaper option can be to go and enjoy a dessert or coffee and soak up the ambiance for a fraction of the price. Still not cheap, a coffee can run €3 or €4, while desserts can cost from €4 to €8 in such establishments.
