Sing into spring at the annual, Budapest festival

Join in the spring festivities during Budapest's most popular cultural, two-week event filled with musical performances of all kinds and dance and theatre acts.

Introducing the Budapest Spring Festival

Aside from the obvious reasons we increasingly pine for spring, the Budapest Spring Festival is another way to celebrate that the season has officially arrived. In both song and dance, and through a multitude of cultural events and mediums, from classical musical events to theatre performances and art exhibits, people from Hungary and from around the world can now join in the procession. The joy that spring brings, from relieving us from cold winter chill and frost, to finally feeling the sun warming our skin once again, it is a thrill only nature can bestow, that is, until the last two weeks in March and into the beginning of April when Budapest opens up with a beacon of sunshine all its own.

Budapest Spring Festival Events

From this two-week long period comes over 200 events from operas to concerts, to ballets and theatre performances. 2010 has a schedule of events that will be starting March 19th and will last until the 5th of April. Of all Budapest’s festivals, the Budapest Spring Festival is by far the largest and most well-known cultural event, considered one of Europe’s finest displays of modern artistic talent. The event attracts lovers of music from classical to opera to jazz worldwide.

Thus the birds won’t be the only creatures offering up song throughout the city of Budapest this spring, the real question is, which locale do you prefer to perch from? Which songs do you want to hear as music begins to pour from famous music halls like at The Palace of the Arts or in the Hall of Mirrors? Which churches and concert halls, which theatres will be hosting the events that you’ll most likely want to attend? From opera performances, musicals, folk dances, film screenings and art exhibitions, the decision of what to limit your activities to during that span of time will take a little research and then careful consideration. We can't do it all! Plan the perfect spring calendar of events by going to the Budapest Spring Festival website for more specific details about times, locations and events.
