Winter has finally come to Hungary, the cold wind blows through the streets of Budapest and there isn't much inhabitants can do except wait in quiet desperation for the coming Spring in 2010.

So winter blew in last night, bringing an arctic blast of gale-force winds to Central Europe.
What I cannot understand is how these frigid "szél” can blow in all directions at once in Budapest.
You can be walking down Andrassy towards Heroes Square with the wind blowing directly in your face, then you can turn right at Octogon going down the Korut and the wind will still be right at you, maybe stronger, then you can make a right on Kiraly utca going toward Liszt Ferenc Ter and somehow the wind still blows right into your grill. After, if you turn right at Liszt Ferenc ter, you will find once again it is coming at you.
How is this possible?
Shouldn’t the wind be coming from some certain direction?
What can cause such a freezing vortex devoid of thermal energy?
All across Hungary the heat came on, much to the delight of the Russians and Ukrainians, who are probably looking to renegotiate their gas contracts after the Nebucco agreement.
Can we look forward to a six-month winter?
Did a butterfly flap its wings in China to cause this?
If so, how do we retaliate?
